My dad was a carpenter. He made me help him hold this and that all the time as a child. He never really gave instruction but he would give little tips here and there.

Fast-forward 20 years and I wanted a "sweet looking" end-grain cutting board... Well, woodworking isn't scary to me, I saw my dad do it all the time! I bought some cheap tools off craigslist and made my first cutting board. Here it is: http://cdandar.smugmug.com/Woodworking/Cutting-Boards/i-CdPw2VG/0/XL/Cutting-Board-XL.jpg

I shared this pic with friends on facebook. Fast-forward a couple years and I have a full shop of fancy tools using shelix inserts, a SawStop cabinet saw, Festool gadgets, and hundreds of cutting board sales under my belt.

Now I'm in my early 30's and know that this is going to be a life-long hobby of learning.

I love it.

I've lurked around LumberJocks for a long time while absorbing everything I can. Time to make an account and be official. :)

Welcome to Lumberjocks. Hope you stay a while.

-- While teaching a class, a gentlemen once asked me: "When chip carving an intricate design, what do you do when you are almost finished and the wood breaks off?" I replied "Cover the kids ears."
